Promote Your Web Site with Direct Mail:
"Promote Your Web Site with Direct Mail
by Barry Fieg
As I wrote in my book Streetwise Low-Cost Web Site Promotion, most people who expect to make a fortune on the Internet have their dreams of overnight fortune rudely turned into nightmares. One of the reasons is that they don't hire the best Search Engine Optimization specialists. But there's a bigger reason. People rely on Google to do their selling for them. Google doesn't care about your sales. Nor does Google help you target your market. You need other methods, besides Google, to get people to buy from your website.
Once you put up a website, you have two problems. First, you have to get people to your site. Second, you have to convert them from Internet surfers to Internet buyers. Studies show that people make decisions about websites in about 7 seconds. One writer calls it '7 seconds until death.' And if your website doesn't grab readers, they are not going to buy. They will just click away and never return again.
Direct mail offers you the perfect opportunity to create a marketing synergy. Direct mail brings in revenue and offers targeted customers a personal invitation to visit and buy from your site. People are multitasking these days. 50% of Super Bowl viewers were on the Internet at the same time. So, in effect, advertisers were getting two hits for the price of one. For instance, direct mail postcards are generally received at the home or office where a computer is present, and if received somewhere else, the postcards are small enough to keep with you until you can get to a computer. This way, your prospective customer will be able to take the card right over to their desk top computer, type in your address and go right to your site. What could make more sense?
Direct mail allows you to target a specific market better than any other advertising medium. You decide who gets your message, when they get it, and where they get it.
A direct-mail piece can be as simple as the aforementioned postcard or as elaborate as a catalog. Sending a direct mail piece is much more likely to elicit an immediate response than television, radio, or newspaper advertising."

Be Willing To Do What Others Aren't - Take Action, In Spite Of
Be Willing To Do What Others Aren't - Take Action, In Spite Of
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Fabienne_Fredrickson]Fabienne Fredrickson
Sometimes, you just KNOW there's something you need to take action on to take your business forward. However, if you're anything like me, you've gotten stopped in the past, even when it's something you KNOW will create big results. You procrastinate, you tidy up your office, get another cup of coffee, ANYTHING to not get it done. Ever have that happen to you?
There are different reasons why you may be stalling from taking action. It could be that you don't know the next steps, that you're not sure how to move forward. That happens, but that's not what we're talking about today. Most likely, it's something deeper.
For me, the procrastination in moving forward is sometimes a fear of success, especially when the outcome really means a lot to me. When it's something meaningful, something BIG, it's a combination of, "Wow, I hope I don't screw this up" and simultaneously, "What will happen if I succeed? Can I really handle the success and the abundance that will come my way? Am I really cut out for this much good stuff coming into my life?" (Just writing that seems ridiculous, but that's what sometimes comes up, and I KNOW I'm not the only one.)
That's what I call your INNER game of Client Attraction (mindset) dictating your OUTER game of Client Attraction (marketing.)
Although I'm usually focused and take a no-excuses approach to getting things done, it happened again this past week. I had set aside the time to finalize the info webpage for the upcoming 3-day Client Attraction workshop I'm hosting (August 20-22) and instead, I found myself doing things I "used" to do: going to eat something instead of sitting down to write it, cleaning out my office, even wiping down the desk, shopping for shoes online, and then I realized what was really happening.
I was momentarily being stretched past my comfort zone.
You see, this workshop is something I've wanted to do for 2 years. It's everything I'm passionate about: Marketing and Mindset. It's about giving people the real-life tools they need to market their business, while getting them out of their OWN way, so they can actually succeed. It's my passion, it's my dream, and it's my calling (just reading that gets me choked up.) So, as you can see, this isn't a light thing for me. There's a lot at stake, both professionally and personally. And actually DOING it has me feeling a little uncomfortable. Thoughts keep creeping up: "Will they want it? Will they pay for it? Will they come?"
That creepy gremlin of self-doubt reared its ugly head once again. I thought I'd clobbered him, but he was back. Thing is, I wasn't going to let him win once again. So this time, I decided to take ACTION, in spite of the fear, in spite of the uncomfortable feelings of self-doubt.
The key was to recognize WHAT was stopping me from taking action. What was at the core? What was this all about? Once that was clear, I chose an action that would move me forward, in spite of any negative feelings, or what my inner critic or gremlins were telling me.
Then, I wrote down the action I wanted to get done THAT DAY. Just ONE action step. Admittedly, it FELT massive, but it was just one thing to do. Next, I asked myself how it would feel at the end of the day, having accomplished that one goal, that one action. I envisioned being really proud of myself, happy inside, and knowing that I had done something really good today. The day had not been wasted. Once that was done, I got to work on the task I'd been pushing off for 2 years.
Well, every time this happens, the result is always the same. YES, the first few minutes are uncomfortable. I'm fidgety, a little anxious, I dread it. But once the flow gets going, once I'm committed to the project, it all just glides from there. When I'm in the flow, ideas start to surface that I hadn't thought about, concepts start to come together, and the whole thing just takes shape, making it easier than I thought it would have been.
After a while, you get a rush. That uninterrupted flow of creativity starts to take over and it's like you're riding a wave. At the end of the day, you're feeling a high, a pride, and a real sense of accomplishment. Not just because you took a step FORWARD for your business, but because you took that step IN SPITE OF.
Your Client Attraction Assignment: So, I ask you today. What is it that you've been putting off? What is it that has great importance to you that you've been procrastinating on? What's one thing that, if you got it done today, would move your business forward immeasurably? What could you take action on, in spite of any feelings of discomfort, knowing that once it's done, you'll feel AMAZING?
Write down the action you will take, then the FEELING you will have after accomplishing it at the end of the day (or preferably, by 11am?) Focus on that feeling and just begin it.
Remember, successful people are simply people who are willing to do what others aren't. Are you willing to do that? It's a new way of looking at your life and your business: the no-excuses approach. Once you do, Client Attraction becomes big time easy.
I don't get out of bed in the morning to be average, to do what everyone else does. How about you?
Now, if you are ready to take action but aren’t sure what to do to get clients, then get a copy of the Client Attraction Home Study System™. I’ve outlined every Client Attraction technique in detail, and it’s all there so you can start using it right away to get similar results. It’s all step-by-step, so, you do step one of the system, and when you’re done with that, you move on to step two, and so on. SO easy. That’s why my clients have gotten such great results from it. All the tools, scripts, templates, and examples are handed to you on a silver platter. You can get yours at [http://www.theclientattractionsystem.com/]http://www.TheClientAttractionSystem.com . Why struggle when you can just model a system that already works?

Survival Tips for the Working Mom
Survival Tips for the Working Mom
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Lata_Tokhi]Lata Tokhi
It is easy to get frustrated with life when you feel like you are managing more than you can really manage and doing a thankless job at that because things never seem to be perfect. But what is difficult is to fight back like most of the working mothers out there have to do in order to continue with their own careers. 'Everything Done To Perfection' is never going to happen and even stay at home moms can't boast of that, so once and for all, get out of that frustration. But that said, there are some surefire ways that can help you manage your time and your entire life in a better way.
We share with you some of the ways that successful working moms have shared with us in their interviews on Dot Com Women and who want all the working moms of the world to read and benefit from their experiences.
1. Organize Your Time
Wake up before kids do. Grab a peaceful fifteen minutes for yourself and do whatever you like. It could be reading the morning newspaper with a cup of coffee or doing stretching exercises or meditating or just sitting in your porch or garden with a cup of tea or coffee. Have a shower, make the kids' lunches and your own if possible. Before you leave for work, put your laundry into the washer and use slow cookers to start cooking the dinner.
After you come back from work, spend time with kids. Talk to them about what happened at school and check their school work. Use the evening to get prepared for the next morning. Lay out children's clothes and chop/freeze for the next day's meals.
2. Get Help from Your Family
Enlist your husband and kids' help in doing household chores. While you still need to do the most of the work yourself, divide a considerable amount of work between other members of the family so that the work gets done quickly and none of the other members feel bogged down by too much work. Tasks such as cleaning the house which otherwise never get done, can be performed daily if you assign it to the kids. This will also teach your kids to be responsible.
You can also ask your husband to take the kids out to the nearby park so that you can get an extra couple of hours. This is especially handy when you have overdue housework or an important work assignment from your office.
3. Make Your Life Easy
Make your lifestyle easy by buying gadgets and using services that can really make things easier for you. Look for small appliances that can help you in the kitchen in your busy mornings. Keep some easy-to-make or ready-to-eat food at hand for emergency situations when you do not have the time to prepare full meals. Hire household help if you can. Utilize community services that charge you a small sum for bringing home your groceries, washing your car or paying your bills for you. Use the internet to shop from home and save valuable time which you can spend with your kids instead.
4. Prioritize
It is for you to decide and prioritize your day. Is it a spotless home that you really want or do you think you should do something special for your husband or your kids. Is there a way to do both? Similar questions arise when you get stuck between an important meeting with a client and attending your child's ballet recital. Learn to set your priorities right. While you obviously want to be at the recital, you cannot always set it to be your top priority. Ask your husband for support and make sure that at least one parent is there for your kids. Be aware that your husband could also need such support and you should make it possible for him to miss your son's baseball match for his meeting while you take his place at the match.
And when you do miss out on anything that is of special importance to your kids or your husband, take the time to make up for it by asking about it with interest and getting all the details no matter how tired you yourself are. Chances are, that your husband and children will really understand your situation and support you.
The key to being a good mother is staying happy and sane, whether you work or not. Minimizing your guilt feeling about not doing enough for your family and feeling at peace deep inside your mind is what will help you manage your personal and professional lives in a more efficient way and enjoy your life with your dear ones.

Effective Small Business Marketing for Beginners
Effective Small Business Marketing for Beginners
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Perrett]Keith Perrett
Effective small business marketing is the lifeblood of any small business. An unsettling high percentage of small businesses fold within the first year of operation with most of the first year survivors closing shop by the end of the third year.
One of the major reasons that small businesses fail is a cash flow crisis. Effective small business marketing is one of the few business tools available to a small business owner that GENERATES cash.
Effective small business marketing starts with being able to write a simple and practical marketing plan, specifically for your business. This marketing plan then forms the basis of all your marketing efforts and acts as a reference point when you have to decide between two or more courses of action.
The result of following a well constructed marketing plan is that all your different marketing efforts form part of a co-ordinated strategy aimed at attaining your predetermined goal. That is in stark contrast to the marketing efforts of most small businesses and immediately puts you ahead of the pack.
Effective small business marketing naturally comes with some challenges – and advantages. Challenges might include a lack of marketing savvy, a limited marketing budget, time constraints especially if you are a one person business and so on. Anyone who has run a small business should recognise the danger of spending too much time working in the business rather than on the business.
There are many advantages however in marketing a small business as opposed to a corporate giant. These include a lack of a hierarchy of decision makers, no red tape to fight through to get anything done, direct contact with your target market and many more.
Effective small business marketing should and can be the cornerstone of every small business. Your simple yet effective marketing plan is the map that will guide you out of the woods towards a profitable business, irrespective of the market segment you operate in.

Get Noticed And Stand Out From The Crowd
Get Noticed And Stand Out From The Crowd
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joshua_Rose]Joshua Rose
Several years ago, I went whale watching in Bar Harbor, Maine, while on a family vacation. I remained in the large, central cabin with my poor seasick infant son when a whale was finally spotted.
The Captain announced, "Whale to the starboard", and a mini-stampede of about 70 tourists scampered over just in time for the briefest of glimpses as it quickly submerged again. Everyone jostled and jockied for position to get the perfect camera shot for when that darn whale resurfaced.
But of course, it wasn't going to work out this way. "Whale to the port side", announced the Captain, and the stampede to the other side literally rocked the boat. Naturally, the whale had disappeared by then as well.
This went on like this. back and forth, for about twenty minutes. The whale seemed to be toying with human nature -- the tendency for people to do what everyone else was doing.
And EVERYONE was zigging when they should have been zagging. There were no "individuals". They moved as a group in their futile quest to snap off a clear and revealing shot.
Are you moving with the crowd on the internet, or are you striking out on your own unique path, one more likely to get noticed?
If you observe your own specific internet marketplace, it's very likely you'll find that the vast majority of the "crowd" are doing the sames things in the same ways ... and they're also getting the same poor results.
This presents a golden opportunity to be noticed by doing things differently.
Successful entrepreneurs, both online and off, are innovators and risk takers. They experiment, evaluate and evolve until they successfully convey that both who they are and what they offer is unique in the marketplace, despite all the competition.
To seperate yourself from the pack, you need to look at every aspect of your internet marketing effort and ask yourself, "What's unique about this?" And, "how does this contribute to my own unique web presence?"
Here's some important areas to look at to get you started.
* Are you playing it safe and trying to please and sell everyone, and consequently selling to almost no one?
* Why should your prospects believe YOU when they are skeptical of so many others?
* How about your newsletter? Is it similar to countless others or is there a unique theme or tone running through it?
* While your ads may be well written, is the overall message very much the same as the pack?
* How is your sales page unique? And have you given it a measured dose of your own personality?
This process of developing a distinct "uniqueness" is subjective, involves risks, takes work to implement, and time to evaluate and change again if necessary. But in doing so, you will develop the factors crucial to successfully setting yourself apart in a very competitive marketplace.
Back onboard, my wife took a chance and finally went to the OTHER SIDE of the boat, alone. Sure enough, the whale popped up for a few seconds, she got the shot, and that was the last that was seen of that whale, or any other, for the rest of the trip. There were alot of unhappy tourists grumbling on the way back.
Stand out from the crowd. Move to the empty side of the boat ... and you'll stand a much better chance of getting your picture of the whale.

Marketing a Home-based Online Business
Marketing a Home-based Online Business
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Gisela_Santibanez] Gisela Santibanez
Many people dream of working at home running a home-based online
business, and many people take the step of starting a home-based online
business. The problem is, home-based online businesses, like other
businesses, don't always succeed. It takes effective online business marketing
strategies and methods to make a home-based online business work.
The biggest obstacle home-based online businesses face is the vast
number of online businesses to compete with. Large well-known businesses
can afford top- of-the-line marketing and advertising, while most
home-based online businesses
are limited by a marketing budget. Home-based online businesses more
often than not go unnoticed, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Home-based online businesses must resort to different methods of marketing and
advertising. There are effective ways of marketing a home-based online
business that can make a home-based online business a financial success.
Effective online marketing doesn't necessarily mean expensive online
marketing. There are effective methods of marketing a home-based online
business that don't cost a small fortune, and these methods are
available to home-based online business owners who have a strong desire to
succeed.
One method of marketing a home-based online business is through free
online newsletter publishing. Any home-based online business owner can
publish a free online newsletter and gain a large database of subscribers
and customers. It doesn't take special writing skills to write and
publish an online newsletter. If a home-based business owner is
knowledgeable in a subject related to their business, they can most definitely
gain customers through publishing an online newsletter. Home-based
business owners can publish online newsletters and add links to their business
website and individual products or services. Marketing possibilities
through an online newsletter are virtually limitless.
Another good method of marketing a home-based online business involves
exchanging links with other home-based online businesses. There are
websites that help home-based online businesses with marketing by finding
appropriate link exchange partners. Home-based online businesses
looking for effective marketing methods can benefit greatly by exchanging
links with other home- based online businesses. Link exchange members gain
increased online traffic, and this in turn can bring in more customers
and a substantial increase in profits.

Home Business - Market Your Products and Services in the Comfort of Your Abode
Home Business - Market Your Products and Services in the Comfort of Your Abode
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jeff_Casmer] Jeff Casmer
There are many job opportunities inside big cities and even in towns with high rise buildings and plush offices, but you need certain qualifications for high corporate positions. You always have to meet the needs of your company boss no matter where you work.
Now the question is how about those busy mothers that are doing their daily household chores and those who do not have the capability to work outside their home.
Would they be able to work and earn some extra money?
Absolutely, yes, but it always depends on what kind of home business you will have, how to start the business, and who would be the target market.
There are always the basic issues that almost everyone encounters in starting a new home business. Like deciding on what kind of business you can start up. For instance you can be the best writer, tax accountant, or web designer in the market. And the other issue is if you don't know how to get connected to the word market or even local markets, how could you market your product or service?
You have to list these important steps to help avoid the barriers that may occur while you are creating your home business. Here are five important steps to follow to get started with internet marketing and for you to market your products or services from your own home.
1. You must decide who your main customers are before you start a home business. As a group, how old are they? Where do they live? How much money do they make? What kinds of jobs do they have and what are their interests? The better you can sketch a detailed profile of the kinds of people, who will be your main customers, the better you'll fare in the next four steps.
2. What kinds of media do your main customers use?
Each type of media has its own target audience. Each radio station, newspaper, magazine, or TV program tries to interest a specific segment of the population. The trick is to match your main customers with the kinds of media they use. And remember that media is not just TV and newspapers. Effective media can be anything that conveys your message. Media choices range from million dollar commercials in the Super Bowl to a few free pens with your name on them. Along that line, the internet is now the most powerful media you can use at a relatively low cost for your home business.
3. Limit the media to what you can afford to use consistently to promote your home business.
The key to effective home business marketing is consistency. You have to hit the audience with your message again, and again.
Marketers use the Rule of Seven. Prospects must see or hear your message seven times before they consider buying. Don't blow your entire marketing budget on a one-shot media blitz. Choose a less expensive type of media that you can afford to use week after week. Google may be a good place to start your home business advertising. Just be sure to get a free eCourse to educate yourself on how to effectively use this type of advertising from someone with experience.
4. Sell the main benefit of your product or service of your home business.
Focus on what is unique about your home business products or services. How does your product or service improve your customer's life? Talk to your customer from their own perspective. Does your product or service save them time? Make them richer? Make them more attractive?
Your home business marketing should drive home this most important benefit as clearly and directly as possible. Customers buy benefits! When you advertise the features of your product or service, connect those features to the benefits they will bring the customer.
5. Last, but certainly not least, remember to promote your business with the latest on-line marketing tactics. Articles are very effective to get the word out.
The Internet is wide open to everyone. It's the only "big" media that allows the small home business person to get their message out at very low cost. Bulletin boards and newsgroups may appreciate helpful information that you provide. Most won't mind if you sign your name along with four to six lines about your business in your bio.
These are the five essential steps to effective marketing of a home business. Keep them in mind as you decide how to market your new home business. They are the single most important reasons why some marketing aspects fail while other types of marketing brings massive amounts of new customers and profits.

A very important aspect to the marketing plan is this, and it is similar to the formula of setting goals that some of us are familiar with.

Is Offline Advertising Effective for E-Commerce Websites?
Is Offline Advertising Effective for E-Commerce Websites?
By Craig Rowe
Gaining new customers for your e-commerce website is very important to keep you in business so you are probably considering all the different types of marketing that will bring in new business. Since you have an e-commerce site you have probably considered every possible type of online advertising, but has offline advertising crossed your mind? It may have or it may not, but regardless you are surely interested in knowing whether offline advertising can benefit your website and increase your traffic and ultimately sales.
The answer whether offline advertising works or not depends significantly on where you advertise.
Offline Advertising Options
Advertising your e-commerce site offline can really be a boost to your sales if you know where to advertise. For example, if your e-commerce website sells custom printed t-shirts and you have your web address printed on each t-shirt you sell then there will be plenty of people walking around advertising for you! This is the best offline advertising because you don’t have to pay for it or put in much effort.
Another great offline marketing strategy is billboards. This might seem odd to you, but a strategically placed billboard ad can really garner you some business. For example, if your e-commerce site sells antiques then a billboard advertisement in the heart of antique country with something to the effect of “Didn’t Find it Here? Check Here” with your web address underneath will surely increase your traffic and your sales.
Advertising in newspapers, magazines, and even on television are other offline ads that are effective for your e-commerce business as long as you do some research so you know your market and who you are marketing to with the offline ad.
Advertising, On and Offline, Just Makes Sense
If you advertise online for your e-commerce site then that is great, but advertising offline has some perks as well and you will reach people that are not necessarily Internet savvy. However, if your advertisement is good enough then those individuals might give the Net a try just to check out your site. So, always evaluate all of your advertisement options, even those offline, before deciding on the best advertising strategy. A little bit of online advertisements mixed with a little offline advertisements will really round out your marketing plan and be successful for your website.

How To Plan Your Internet Marketing Campaign
How To Plan Your Internet Marketing Campaign
By Carol King
One of the biggest challenges faced by anyone starting a home based online business, is getting traffic to their website. You are unknown in the Internet world and so is your business, therefore a marketing plan must be put in place to let the world know that you exist. If nobody knows you are around obviously you are not going to make any money online.
When we talk about advertising online the first thought that comes to most peoples minds is “how am I going to afford it” Many believe that finding low cost advertising methods is an almost impossible task. So they set up their website and just hope that someone will visit it and buy some thing. It is not difficult to guess what will happen using this approach. Nothing. If you do nothing you get nothing in return.
Others do not even think about the cost. They hear somewhere along the line that it is good to use a certain marketing method so they whip out their wallets and jump in head first, spending huge amounts of money without really having any prior knowledge about the method they are using. Again, I know you can guess what happens to those folks. Either they end up broke and have to close their business or they sit around wallowing in self-pity and complaining in every forum they can find.
Doing this allows them to move away from the responsibility and put the blame squarely in the lap of someone else. Stand up and face the failure and move on. If you dwell in the land of negativity I can promise you only one will happen thing. Your business will crumble.
These are two extremes but hopefully you will be one of the ones that opt for a position somewhere in the middle. Advertising is a must, but it should not be rushed into hastily. When you are first getting your business off the ground it is wise to set a reasonable and responsible budget. However there is no sense in having a budget if your not going to stick to it. So therefore a degree of self-control must be exercised.
On a daily basis it is possible to come across hundreds of different websites telling you that their traffic generating system is the only one you will ever need. We have all been bombarded by this website and that, all trying to get us to spend our advertising dollars with them. This why it is so important that you do not rush into a marketing campaign un-focused.
I won’t lie to you when I was starting out I made some very costly mistakes, but I learnt from them and made note of where I went wrong. I learnt some valuable lessons and I would like to share them with you so that you will be able to plan a successful marketing campaign.
Do Some Research!
Many people may tell you that a specific type of advertising or a specific company is the best one to use. When you get this information you have two choices, you can either take the lead or you can follow. By this I mean it is all well and good to take someone’s word for something but can you really be sure that it is the right thing for you to do. The truth is you will never be sure until you do some research. Gather as much information about the service as you can before you use it. Check it out thoroughly and then if you do decide to go ahead keep these words in mind….
Everything In Moderation.
Just because you have information about a service does not mean that it will automatically be the best one for you. Each persons experience is going to be different. So, it is wise to tread softly at first. Use moderation choose the cheapest option available. Do not throw every penny you have into the campaign. That way if it does not turn out the way you would like, at least you will not have spent a fortune.
Testing, Testing 123.
To find out if the advertising method that you are using is helping your business you must keep track of your progress. This is why planning a focused attack is so important. If you are hopping from pay-per-click to ezine ads to who knows what else, how are you going to know which type of advertising is working for you.
Stick to one method at a time and monitor what is happening. If the method you are using requires you to write advertisements, play around with your wording or change your keywords. Don’t just push out one ad and think that that will do everything for you, tweak it, test it try everything you can think of to improve it.
After you have exhausted every possible angle, if you truly believe it is not working, then dump it. If on the other hand it is working for you make note of it and step up your campaign.
Remember though, the advertising world is a very fickle one, it is important to always keep track of you campaigns, just because you are reaping benefits this month, does not mean that next month will be the same.
To Conclude.
Advertising your home-based business online requires some know-how. It also calls for dedication and focus. Learn from the mistakes that I have made so that you will not fall into the same trap and you will be able to rock the Internet with the best advertising campaign ever seen.

When discussing you business it may be a good idea to leave out the fact that you have a home based business. Although a great many companies are starting up home based aspects of their companies many people still view these businesses as unprofessional. 14 Unique and Inexpensive Ways to Market and Advertise Your Business
14 Unique and Inexpensive Ways to Market and Advertise Your Business
By Cartess Ross
Local Church Festivals - Every spring or fall, churches in your area typically host a variety of events, festivities, and church yard sales. Contact these churches and rent a table for the event. Rental fees are usually less than $20 dollars and can be a great source of leads.
Make sure to bring products with you and make sure to have some type of contest registration/drawing so you're able to collect names, emails and mailing addresses. This will allow you to continue up-selling to these potential prospects.
Balloon Advertising - Get your company name, phone # and website address printed onto balloons. These are fairly cheap, usually around .03-.07 cents each (1,000 balloons for about $70 dollars). Make sure to put the services/products you offer with a special call-to-action.
You can then distribute the balloons at local events, charities, birthday parties, etc…thus giving your business lots of exposure.
Customized T-shirts - Everybody wears t-shirts and would gladly accept a FREE one. But don't do the usual thing here; make your message stand out! I like the controversial angle…make your message 'unforgettable'.
For example…I have t-shirts that say:
WORKING FOR "THE MAN" SUCKS!
Make Money, Get Rich & Enjoy Life!
Go to: www.HippoMarketing.com
Welcome Wagon - Most neighborhoods have the Welcome Wagon, which is a service that welcomes new people into the neighborhood. They generally deliver the new homeowner a bag of goodies from local businesses. This is a great opportunity to get your name in front of new residents. It's fairly inexpensive and you should try this.
Library Bookmarks - Contact local libraries in your area about leaving behind 'FREE' bookmarkers. Put your information on it (Not the boring typical messages of course). You can typically leave a couple of hundred of these behind and check back every 3 months to replenish (you may have to check back more often depending on how busy the library is). Offer some type of contest on the bookmarker (maybe a $10 gift certificate to Barnes & Nobles, Amazon.com, or wherever…your goal is to get their names and addresses - direct them to your web site to register).
Teach & Hold Classes - If you have a specialized skill, then teach others in a classroom setting. If you're into scrap booking, why not teach new moms how to do this with their new baby pictures? It doesn't matter what you know, teach a class. Contact local community centers, churches, community colleges and libraries. This is a great way to generate sales and leads. Once you teach a series of classes, then you can contact the people you've taught and up-sell them "advanced training". Give it a try!
Children's Coloring Books - Make your own 10 page coloring book and put some advertising on the pages. Distribute to local restaurants, doctor offices, banks and daycare centers (trust me… they'll be glad to see you). You can generally find a 4-piece box of crayons for about .10 cents a box.
Go a step further and have the parents send in their child's coloring to win a free happy meal or ice-cream from Dairy Queen…This ensures the parents see your advertisements and you now have their name and mailing address which will allow you to continue marketing to them.
College Campuses - Most of your college campuses generally have days where they'll allow vendors to come out and setup tables. We did this at Spelman College here in Atlanta when we were in the cell-phone & pager business. We made a killing. These kids have access to money and credit cards and are willing to spend money. Booths typically cost $50 and you'll see many other vendors there too.
Local Gyms & Fitness Centers - Depending on how you position your product, a lot of the local fitness centers will allow you to rent a table where you can display your products/information. Gold's Gym has been a huge source of business for us and they'll typically allow you to put a table out front (on the inside of course --- it's to hot during the summer months to be outside)
5K Runs & Marathons - Become a sponsor at one of these events. These events are usually a sponsor themselves (Breast Cancer, Leukemia, AIDS, etc.) Sponsor one of these events, they'll usually allow you to get a table and will put your information in the "Sponsors" bag that they hand out to the runners in the event. These events can be very costly to sponsor, but if you look, you'll be able to find some cheap ones.
Sponsor a Doctor's Office - I'm sure you've seen those magazine racks in the doctors' office and it said "Magazines Are Provided Courtesy of Cartess Pharmacy".
Now you can sponsor those magazine racks yourself and put your company name there and since you own and control what goes on the rack, put a few phamplets, booklets or fliers marketing your own services…surely, they wouldn't mind you using 2 slots? Each month, just make sure to update the rack with the current months issue. This works extremely well. You can get these racks anywhere from $25-$45 each. Here's a link to get you started on your search (and you may find some on ebay): www.specialtystoreservices.com
Yearbook Advertising - Run ads in the back of high school yearbooks. These advertisements are fairly inexpensive and are a great way to get your message out!
Mom & Pop Businesses - At some restaurant chains you'll find advertisements posted above urinals in the men's restrooms (I don't know what they have going on in the female restrooms…I guess I'll have to sneak in to find out). Anyhow, talk to the storeowner and find out if you could post your advertisements in the bathroom…Offer them a nominal monthly fee and they just might do it.
Go to other small mom and pop stores such as pharmacies, Laundromats, tanning salons, spas, etc., and ask them if you could sponsor 'real estate' in their store, such as their glass doors, bathroom doors and above urinals, countertop displays, desktops, etc…Get really creative here!
Library Bulletin Boards - Every single library I've been too usually have a bulletin board where you can post your business card, postcard or flyer. Check back often, this is an inexpensive way to get your services seen.
That's it for now. If you have tested and tried some unique and inexpensive ways to make consumers aware of your business, please email us and we'll include your ideas in our next updated version.

Home Business - Market Your Products and Services in the Comfort of Your Abode
Home Business - Market Your Products and Services in the Comfort of Your Abode
By Jeff Casmer

Networking Tips for Moms at Home
Networking Tips for Moms at Home
By Demetria Zinga
Plenty of moms today stay at home. After a year of battling the decision to quit my job, I finally “put my foot down”, as they say, and returned home to raise my daughter.
It wasn’t the easiest decision, but, let me tell you, it sure wasn’t the toughest! I enjoy every minute of being home to raise my child. Furthermore, being home has done wonders for my family as a unit, and drawn us closer together. When I was working my full time job I barely had time to prepare a decent meal. But today? I’m a health nut, and so is the whole family (ha)!
But now, there’s another dilemma.
Being a stay at home mom has not affected my personality, of course, so I still have a lot of creative energy pent up inside! I thought to myself one day, “what better way to use this energy than to work towards a goal—perhaps start a business?” Not only would it bring in a nice supplementary income for my family, but having a business (or craft or hobby) would enhance my creative skills and strengthen my business expertise. I call it the project of my lifetime.
The first thing I did was a little soul searching to seek God’s direction for the type of business or project He would have me to embark on. I realized right away that although my personality was suited for several types of business ventures (selling crafts, designing websites, or providing secretarial services), I would soon either have to narrow it down to one choice, or start a business that combined all or most of my skills and interests. For me, choosing the right business was the hardest part. Once I settled on freelance web design and writing, it soon became my ultimate goal to find out as much as possible about these particular industries.
In my thought, education and information is what separates the amateurs from the professionals. My goal was to be a professional in my field. This is where networking is highly important.
If you’re like me, the internet is probably one of the very best tools you can use for research. Not only is it a few feet away from me as I embark on my daily chores, but I keep my computer on at all times. Thankfully, we are using a broadband connection and can stay online 24/7 without having to worry about tying up the phone line. This, I should stress, is very important for moms who have businesses that require them to be online quite often, but who will need access to the phone as well.
Once online, I begin my networking research by going to a search engine. My favorite one is Google (www.google.com) just because of its enormous searching capabilities. As a former library assistant, I can attest that Google is highly recommended in the academic and librarianship fields. I search for information in my fields using as many search terms and combination of terms as possible. With each result that I feel is important to me, I visit its webpage and bookmark it for future reference. Once I’ve bookmarked a bunch of pages, I go through each of these websites and study them, taking notes on what I feel is important to me in my field. I promise, you will find contacts this way, and it will be so much easier to network once you have a list of people whose companies and organizations you have researched online.
In addition to an internet search, I feel that it is also important to find any books or other publications that are related to your industry. Study them and find out more about the authors. Find out if they have websites and how to reach them.
Now that you have a compiled list of contact people, it’s time to work the list! Before contacting these people individually (they are probably very busy), see if they offer newsletters, or other mailbits. You are looking for information on how they got where they are today. Remember, you are the amateur. They are the professionals. So, any information you receive from this contact list regarding their biographies and information on the field itself is important enough for your notes. Take plenty of notes, and keep them in a file folder. Every time you find a new piece of information on your subject matter, drop it in your file folder. And finally, if you absolutely need to contact your list of professionals for more information, I would recommend sending an email.
But don’t forget about networking with fellow amateurs! You can make some of your best friends and closest contacts online by joining mail lists such as Yahoo groups or MSN groups. These groups along with technologies such as Instant Messenger make it easier for you to find people with similar personal and professional interests and literally network with them on a regular basis. You will find out so much about your industry and probably learn more from each other regarding your profession than in any other way.
Last but not least, be sure to network with the most important contact of all: your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Remember that it is He who gave you the passion and the calling, and it is He who will be with you each step of the way on your new journey.
Happy networking!

One Amazing Technique Provides Unlimited Traffic
One Amazing Technique Provides Unlimited Traffic
By Mike Ingles
Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and most profitable opportunities online if you apply the right methods. I have seen too many people fail due to applying the wrong techniques…wasting valuable time and money.
The internet provides thousands of ways to market your product or service globally. That is the beauty of online marketing…the power to reach an unlimited customer base 24 hours a day.
Unfortunately with the increase of people becoming affiliate marketers the old marketing methods are becoming saturated and do not produce the same result they once did such as classified ads.
Recently, I discovered a technique that was shown to me that has produced phenomenal results. If done RIGHT, you could see as high as 75% response! Image the impact that would have on your business.
I know you are excited to learn this amazing technique so let’s drive right into it.
Write an 8 – 10 page report about your product, service or affiliate program you are promoting. Market your website as a place to visit for additional information throughout your content. Make sure you provide good content that people will find valuable about your product or service. Your goal is to provide good content that creates interest so they will visit your website to get more information.
People are always searching for information…that is why you are reading this article now. If you provide good content that provides value, people will visit your website to get additional information. This has amazing results.
Once you have completed your report, begin marketing it to the world. Send it to your email list, everyone that has sent you offer’s, ezine authors, etc. offering your report for free to use as a bonus offer to their customers.
Another great technique is to create an email account for this report (i.e. freereport@businessname.com) and set your auto responder to include a short add offering your report for FREE. Then visit classified add sites and send people that are offering related services an email requesting information about their service. Once they send you an email they will receive an email from your auto responder with your add and your report. You will be amazed how well this technique works.
Image if someone uses your report that has an email list of 20,000 subscribers! Can you see how powerful this can become?
Within a week I began seeing a huge increase in traffic that has continued to increase week after week.
Place it on your website as a free download using the header “Get your FREE copy of this amazing report…for a limited time to the first 100 people”. Obviously you will not limit it to only 100 people but your headline will help drive excitement and persuade your prospects to download the report.
The key points to remember are provide content that adds value, create interest, provide links to your website as much as possible and send your report to everyone as a free report. If done right, you may not have to worry about traffic again.

Internet Marketing Tips - One Pair Of Hands
Internet Marketing Tips - One Pair Of Hands
By Carol King
Many people trying to build a home based online business seem to think that they have a million pairs of hands and they can do a million things at once, the old saying about learning to walk before you can run comes to mind.
When starting your Internet marketing journey the best way to approach it is one day at a time. I know we tend to want to get into profits as quickly as humanly possible but at the end of the day, if you are going to build a strong creditable business you need to focus on one thing at a time so that your business will grow slowly but surely.
Working from home requires discipline. You need to be focused and aware of what you are trying to achieve and why. Learning to deal with one topic at a time is difficult but not impossible. Being a ‘jack of all trades but a master of none’ applies to some things but not an online home business.
First compile a list of things you want to do for one week. Decide how much time you can spend on each task, stick to it religiously and try not to get distracted. Whether it be trying out different marketing techniques or learning html, you will be far more efficient if you take one task at a time.
If you decide you are going to advertise your business using 3 traffic exchanges, spend three days of the week doing that one thing. Track your results until a clear pattern emerges. If you believe that only two of the traffic exchanges are give giving you the results you need, then scrap the ones that are not working and continue with the ones that are until you are perfectly satisfied that the campaign is successful, then move onto something else.
Do not try to jump from one thing to another, doing this will simply causes confusion and you will not see any success at all. It is more profitable to master each task before moving on. Putting one task at a time into action is the only true way to get your required results.
Make a list of realistic goals. Decide how you are going to achieve those goals, and then break them down into tasks. As you become more knowledgeable and proficient you can increase the amount of tasks you tackle at any one time. Get into the habit of doing this and you will soon find yourself focused and committed to the success of your home based business.

Make Internet Marketing Easy, Fun And Profitable - By Playing Poker Every Week
Make Internet Marketing Easy, Fun And Profitable - By Playing Poker Every Week
By Michael Senoff
If you want to get some really good ideas for your Internet marketing ads and products, then this article will reveal a very sneaky (yet effective) way used by one of the world's most prolific marketers.
Listen to this:
Perhaps one of the most well-known and respected marketers in the world is a guy named Jay Conrad Levinson. And not long ago I had a chance to interview Jay about the way he markets and makes money.
When we got around to talking about getting ideas for creating products, he told me how every week he plays poker.
He's been playing poker for 18 years with this group of people he knows, and every time they play they not only want to take his money, but they want to give him ideas, too.
You see, if you can get out amongst the market you are selling to in a social situation -- like poker -- then you are going to learn far more about what they want and are willing to spend money on than you will by taking surveys or asking them via email.
Why?
Because when people are loose and having fun, with their inhibitions gone, they are open to talking and telling you things. People want to be heard. They want their opinion to count.
And if you get around people you sell to in an environment where everyone is at ease, not feeling like they are being "sold" something, they will tell you everything you need to know about your market's true desires.
The late, great copywriter Eugene Schwartz used to do things like this, too.
He would go to parties and talk to cab drivers and just get people talking, taking mental note of what really motivates and excites people. What their hot buttons are. What they want and don't want.
And as a result...he sold hundreds of millions of dollars worth of products. He knew what people wanted to buy, created those products and sold them.
And all because he wasn't afraid to mix it up with the people he was selling to and get to know them and the things they want on a personal level.
Michael Senoff is a sought-after Internet marketer, interviewer and business coach with more than 50,000 students on four continents. For a limited time he is giving away free over 120 hours of in-depth audio interviews with some of the richest and most successful marketers, copywriters and business experts in the world at his famous website http://hardtofindseminars.com

Four Tips for At-Home-Business Call Success
Four Tips for At-Home-Business Call Success
By Terilee Harrison
You know it’s happened to you. Your phone rings and it’s the important business call you’ve been waiting for. As you look at your children wildly circling you, you ask yourself, “Do I take the call?”
It leaves you wondering how other Mom Entrepreneurs handle at-home-business calls. Here are four quick tips:
1. Don’t apologize. On the days my son, Cole (age four) is with me, there ARE times he talks or is noisy when I’m on a business call. I used to say, “I’m sorry, my son is here…” But thankfully, I’ve changed. I’m grateful to Ponn Sabra, author of Empowering Women to Power Network for setting me straight. She told me to be proud my son is with me. And she is right. Now when I proudly state, “My son is with me today,” I find callers are gracious. Most reply with, “Oh, that’s wonderful! Enjoy your time with him.”
2. Be prepared for the unexpected. As a mom, you wear many hats. When on the phone, always smile and project a good attitude. But be prepared to deal with unexpected situations. If children are disruptive during a call, remain calm. This is the time to have a sense of humor and make light of the situation. If the caller hears the background cries and you’re unable to quickly control the situation, offer to call back at a later time. “Would ten minutes or a half hour be better for you?”
3. Give “silent hellos or goodbyes”. Laurie Hurley of Home Tutoring Business developed a “silent hello” (or goodbye) she uses when on the phone and her girls walk in or out. Laurie wears a headset to free her hands for a big hug and a quiet kiss. Her girls are trained to be quiet and they understand she can’t hang up just because they’ve arrived. The girls compete to see who can be the quietest, and Laurie doesn’t have to hang up on a client!
4. Leave your children “reminders”. Melody Spier of Ballyhoo Virtual Services purchased a small stop sign for her office door. It serves as a visual reminder for her kids to stop and listen so they don’t burst in during a business call. Below the sign she posted three questions for her kids to ask themselves before interrupting.
* Is someone hurt?
* Does it concern schoolwork?
* Would you pay $5 for the answer? ($5 = the 15 minutes it takes to work through the question and get refocused)
This cut the interruptions down to almost zero after about a week.
By being proud of your decision to work from home, being prepared for the unexpected, giving silent hellos or good-byes, and leaving your children reminders, you, too, can experience more success with your at-home-business calls.
Terilee Harrison, The Business Mom, is Mom to Jackie (12) and Cole (4). The Business Mom is helping mom entrepreneurs to “get a life” as they juggle running their business and raising their family. Critical Mass - An Idiot's Guide to Creating An Unstoppable Home Business
Critical Mass - An Idiot's Guide to Creating An Unstoppable Home Business
By Jesse Boland
Critical mass: a term to describe the existence of sufficient momentum in a business system such that the momentum of the marketing becomes self-sustaining and fuels further growth.
As Perry Marshall puts it: "'Marketing on autopilot' is not some fantasy or theoretical ideal. It is the cornerstone of literally thousands of businesses and it quite literally is the difference between failure and success for many people." The object of this article is to show you how you can become successful by creating marketing momentum that drives an increasing number of buyers to your sales information, and allows you to boost your home business's profits by creating a marketing "critical mass" and to show you how, once this mass is achieved, your system runs on autopilot.
I've been meaning to write this article for months now, its funny how you get sidetracked by all the little things that don't actually build your business. It's ironic really, sitting down, putting pen to paper, to write an article about creating an unstoppable business, when you (and when I say you I mean me) have been procrastinating for several months now. But such is the life of an Internet marketer; we tend to do too much of the non-profitable little things and not quite enough of the things that build our businesses. By that I mean we don't do the enough of the stuff that puts leads in your inbox and, eventually, money in your pockets.
Most of us who have been around the Internet marketing arena for any amount of time, know the formula for business profits and success: putting our product information in front of enough qualified and needy buyers. The concept is intuitive really, it's simple exchange. And despite what you may have heard, marketing is a numbers game. Reality being the trickster it often is, getting enough qualified buyers to your sales information is the bane of most (the boon of the lucky few) marketers who have attempted to solve the traffic formula. There are many simple ways to drive buyers to your sales information both online and offline, expensive and inexpensive, productive and unproductive, but these secrets are closely guarded from most mere mortals, by those who stand to lose the most: those swindlers making the outrageous claims that its easy to do this if you just send them your money and you can start making money right away.
To say the least, without getting into ethics, the home based business industry is marketed in a very deceiving fashion. MLM and network marketing companies' "top level" income earners get rich off their new associates by devising misleading marketing that is appealing to their prospects' weaknesses and greed. Given the amazing percentage of people who fail in business it is only logical to assume that many of these sponsors desert those new reps to fend for themselves in the midst of a very competitive marketing environment. If not properly trained and sheltered, many new associates wind up as lambs led into a pack of hungry wolves. The advice of many companies to the new associate to buy leads, make endless prospecting phone calls to "tire kickers" and to solicit friends and family, too often winds up being totally fruitless and the new distributor ends up quitting. The alternative to this is copying or devising a marketing strategy and a system that drives interested prospects to the new associate's sales information, and allows that information to create leads and sales for them.
You are probably asking yourself: "Okay, but how do I do this and it's going to cost me a bunch of money and take a long time?" I doesn't have to, amazingly targeted traffic can be generated quickly and inexpensively or for free if you know how and where to place your marketing. There is some testing involved, but once you have found the right form of marketing to offer to the right prospective market, an amazing amount of people will flock to it. Marshall writes: "One good ad in the right place can earn you money for years with no changes or alterations. And when you use rigorous methods to identify advertising formulas that work, then you're going to do as much of it as you possibly can"
Here is where we come to the tipping pint of creating an unstoppable business. Imagine putting free information out into the marketplace that consistently brings 3 to 5 targeted prospects to your free sales information every day. Imagine being able to replicate this process many times over, all the while tweaking your information and looking for that holy grail: the perfect spot to place your sales information where thousands of people flock to your website. 3 to 5 people looking at your sales information every day is not very many, but when you multiply this by 100 you can see how quickly an amazing amount of targeted prospects can start flocking to your sales page. 100 placements of free information is very conservative for the new business owner and if you have issues placing 100 traffic generating ads you better recheck your commitment level. Marketing doesn't have a shelf life, a link on the web today will link to your sales page indefinitely. So the work you do today creates a critical mass and momentum for your business that will last as long as you keep working toward increasing that mass. As you begin to see success in your business you will no longer have to push your business to create momentum, you only have to add to the mass of marketing you have already created to keep you business rolling. This is true automation and it is the goal of all Internet marketers.
Many Internet marketers never create an unstoppable business, because they never realize how close they are to true success before they quit. Building an online business is just like building any type of business, it takes dedication, commitment, and the desire to learn. I wish I could just give you a button to push to create wealth automatically, however there is none. I know because I've looked for it. However, business marketing automation is a true reality, and it is easier and more cost effective than the more labor intensive methods of endless phone calls and prospecting. Creating momentum or a "critical mass" in your business can be done in a very cost and time effective way, it takes some work but it is the only true way to creating an ethical online business. Get started, right now, in creating or maintaining momentum in your business and soon it will take you places you never thought possible; enjoy the ride.

7 Flat Out Cheap Ways to Promote Your Home Business
7 Flat Out Cheap Ways to Promote Your Home Business
By E. Kinton, Jr.
If you have been working to build a home business for any length of time, you should have already figured out that marketing is a key element to your success. It really doesn't matter whether you are looking for new business partners or potential customers. Nothing will really happen in your business until people know that you are in business.
Here are 7 Flat Out Cheap Ways to Promote Your Home Business.
1. Tell Somebody.
Telling someone verbally or otherwise about your business is probably the cheapest and fastest way to generate some activity. It's not costing you much financially. So, figure out what you want to say and tell some people that you are in business.
2. Blogs.
There are many blog services out there that you can use for free. All you really need is a standard internet connection. Unlike some free services that are littered with annoying pop up ads, the free blogs are freely used and recommended, and they come without such distractions. Go to Blogger if you want to see one in action. Okay, I have a blog now so what's next? See tip #1.
3. Business Cards.
There used to be a saying that "you weren't really in business until you had a business card." They now apply that concept to web sites, blogs, etc. But, the fact remains that business cards are one of the cheapest ways to spread the word about your business. VistaPrint will basically give you 250 of them for free. You just pay a tiny shipping fee and they are yours. Now, here is the key... Business cards sitting in your desk drawer don't help you to grow your business. They need to be given out to people on a consistent basis in order for this strategy to work.
4. Web Sites.
Web sites today are practically mandatory. They are like business cards in the old days. You really should have one in today's marketing environment. The good thing is they are also fairly cheap. Many home business type companies will actually give you a website for free or next to nothing. Your job is to promote it once you have one. Again, for the price, it's normally smart to establish some kind of web presence. Try to keep it simple and professional. Once you are making a profit, you might consider an upgrade. Since we are talking about the web, let's throw "email messages" in here as a bonus. If you stay away from spam, email can be effective in letting others know that you are now a business owner.
5. Car Signs.
Car signs are a favorite of many marketers. You can get a static cling banner for your back window or the magnetic signs that go on the doors. If you want to be a little bit more elaborate, you can have your message professionally done all over your vehicle. Since we are talking about cheap methods here, I would probably stick with the static cling signs. These signs really do work. It is not uncommon to hear stories of people being stopped on the road or in parking lots because a potential customer read your car sign and instantly wanted some information. If you do have a car sign, be prepared with business cards, brochures or some other information that you can easily hand out.
6. T-Shirts.
T-shirts are another standby in the advertising and marketing world. The good thing about t-shirts is that you can wear it every day if you wanted (of course you would have to wash it) and really generate some effective passive marketing. Get a half dozen or more and you can have a little army of passive marketers running around with your message on their backs. You can visit a local printer or CustomInk online to get some basic design ideas.
7. Soap.
Soap? What does soap have to do with marketing?
Well, let's just say your budget is so tight that you don't even have enough money to buy a static cling sign for your car. Take a bar of soap and write your website address at the top of the windshield. You can also go to a local party store or office supply store and purchase giant markers that serve the same purpose. Next, drive around for a few weeks and see what happens. If you are really creative, find a few friends that will let you write on their car windows too. Tell them it is a temporary thing. Maybe you don't think it works to scribble messages on car windows. However, if you look around, you will probably find several auto dealerships that are using this method right now. Besides, have you ever seen a message on a car that you did not read? It does work.
Remember, marketing is a very important part of building your business. Be creative and have some fun thinking up new ways to promote your product or service.

By E.
